Original hand-made Filterbank sn 11 |
Description |
Incredibly rare, one of only forty original units hand-made (and signed) by Herman Gillis, which were snapped up by top musicians as soon as they heard of their existence. The list included U2, Bowie, Chemical Brothers, Human League, Prodigy, Derrick May, Andrew (Screamadelica) Weatherall and more. Like the GBS spring reverb, this uses off-the-shelf plumbing components for its casing. Probably the product that kick-started the boutique rack effects movement (the electronics, not the plastic gutter material). This one was installed at Facility 4 Studio, and gives the impression of having had an interesting life. It has recently been serviced and when it was opened we discovered it had a skull & crossbones hand drawn by the maker inside. [VEMIA note: we had another example of these for many years, and although the technology had its weaknesses, it sometimes produced the most amazing weird vocal and wind instrument-like effects I ever heard. It's also one of the most modular-like effects units ever produced.] Now at VEMIA: packing 6GBP. |
