Diamond Computer Band 2000 |
Description |
DIAMOND COMPUTER BAND 2000 - made in Italy by CRB Elettronica in about 1979, and very rare, especially in such good condition. A very sophisticated rhythm/accompaniment unit with the following features allowing a remarkable amount of flexibility (you could easily do a performance with this unit on its own) ***** 20 different rhythms - each with an optional variation that can happen automatically for 1 bar out of 4, or 2 out of 8, plus a break (fill) manually activated any time. ***** Each of the 9 drum/perc sounds have an on/off switch ***** FOUR Accompaniment sections are as follows: ***** BASS (double bass, bass guitar, and tuba), with volume and decay controls (like on the other three sections). You can choose Walking or Alternative bass patterns ***** CHORD 1 (Pno, Gtr, E. Pno, Banjo) ***** CHORD 2 - a different rhythm to Chord 1 (Pno, Spinet, E. Gtr) ***** ARPEGGIO (Pno, Clavichord, Banjo, Harp). The unit boasts numerous very retro colourful buttons (that only show their colour when pressed). Note that any of the instrument sounds in each Section can be combined (up to 4 at once). Also, any two Rhythm buttons can be pressed simultaneously for more complex rhythms. Tempo range is very wide. ***** KEYBOARD: a full-size 2-octave keyboard controls the chords and bass patterns - either by One-Finger chords (major, plus an optional Minor button on the far right) - or by the “Free” setting which lets you play any chord you like up to 4 notes. The TUNING knob has a range of +/- one semitone. ***** There are several jacks and a switch on the back of the unit, probably to connect it to organs and pedals - I have only ever used the mono OUTPUT jack. I bought this 10 years ago from VEMIA and used it only in my home studio, so it is in very good cosmetic condition. The lid has no locks so it is more like a cover. When transporting I use elastic ropes to hold it on. Very occasionally one or two switches will not work - and then they fix themselves. Basically it is working 100% - practically all the time. A really fascinating unit - apparently very few were made! ***** VOLTAGE: 220V. Has a standard 3-pin power socket on the back (see photo). DEMO: a 4-minute mp3 with various rhythms and some weird chords can be heard here: . . . . . www.morgan-fisher.com/crb.mp3 |
