Studer 900 Series mixing console. Dimensions: W 1400mm / D 970mm / H 650 - weight - VERY HEAVY!
These are referred to as 'the Swiss Neves' due to their amazing sonic quality. The preamps on each channel are some of the cleanest ever made, with lots of headroom and a big powerful sound. The EQs are really flexible and musical, and go way beyond anything on a budget console. It is configured as follows: 12 mono channels with full EQ / 4 stereo channels (total 8 inputs), 2 of which have full EQ and the unique and very cool 'stereo spread' knob, which seems to enhance the stereo image in an interesting way / 4 aux sends (1 of which is stereo) / main output and 4 further group outputs / full monitoring and control section / direct I/O on each channel. Now the bad news! The desk needs some work to get 100% functional. I would say it is about 60% at the moment. It could do with each channel being looked at, assessed and possibly recapping in places. Each channel has a transformer-based Balancing Card which feeds the inserts and these are the main area of fault. It would, in theory, be possible to bypass the cards and unbalance the desk, but this was a path I didn't go down and now I need the space in my studio for other things, so I am moving this console on. Oh, and yes the phones work!
