MIDIMini rack Minimoog sounds great |
Description |
***This is part of a huge consignment from a musician who has one of the world's largest synth collections. It had not been used for years. When we tested it we didn't get it to work at all. We have now had it serviced and it is working well and sounding good - and actually now only missing one screw on the top panel.***
Studio Electronics' take on the Minimoog. Some MIDIMinis actually used Minimoog boards, and some used cloned boards. We have looked inside this one, and YES, it looks like it uses Moog boards, complete with tropical fish capacitors - as far as we can tell, the only Studio Electronics board is the big one dealing with MIDI and the extra facilities the MIDIMini has. The tech says that the donor Minimoog seems to have been from around 1976. Studio Electronics' serial number 1405. Cosmetically it is pretty nice EXCEPT for the top panel which has screws missing, and lots of scratches - it is so comparatively bad you could almost believe it came from another instrument. This machine was originally, and still is, set to US voltage. There is a little switch on the side of the case which will presumably swap to European /UK voltage, but you would have to replace the captive mains lead (and probably internal fuse?) as well. Packing 5GBP. |
