Description |
A very very nice example of this early classic analogue monosynth. Could almost be called a monophonic GX-1 (using many of the same sound generation modules), but with a huge amount of manual control over almost every aspect of the sound. Although the basic building blocks are presets, this control gives you the ablity to create entirely new sounds. A lot of performance controls too, so that solo lines can be really musical and expressive. As well as the well-designed touch sensitivity you can also connect a foot pedal for more expressiveness (not tested here). The raw presets are generally nothing to write home about (not for the last time you wonder what Yamaha were thinking about with a violin preset which is not violin-like at all) but it's what you can do with the raw material which makes this special. Unusually complete, with the lid, and also the legs which are almost never there. The legs (reminiscent of Wurli EP-200 legs) are in beautiful condition - not cleaned at all for the photo - as is everything inside the case. Outside, the metal parts are all more or less corroded, but the case itself is very solid and in generally very good condition. Straight out of the case, having not been played for quite a time (maybe two years) this was absolutely perfect, without even a slightly noisy pot. The build standard was so excellent. UK voltage. Packing 8GBP. |
