Electronium early tube synth |
Description |
This is a very rare early tube based monosynth that is built into an accordion shaped housing but otherwise has no relationship to an accordion. The reason why it is a synth in the shape of an accordion is that the huge price that the instrument cost would only be able to be afforded by accordion orchestras that have a special budget for bass accordions, which often cost as much as car.
The bellows are a volume control and there is a sliding ring on the side that sets the waveshaping and filter sounds.
This model is the tube model, which is the most rare and it is in excellent cosmetic and working condition. It comes with its own proprietary tube amplifier that is needed to make sound, and as far as tube amps go this one sounds great.
This instrument is famous in that it was often used in Stockhausen's live electronic music by Harald Boje. Namely in the piece 'Spiral'.
The instrument comes with case, cable to connect to amplifer, and accordion straps to wear accordion.
You can see a video of a similar instrument in action here.

The sound is very similar to the instrument that is for sale in this auction.
