| Description |
A classic bit of BBC test gear, untested, sold as seen, but another beautiful example of hand manufacture for the BBC. This is audio test gear at its sixties finest, with click-stopped dB rotary dials, a classic Model 325 PPM, and a Model 455 moving coil meter with a modernistic BBC logo in the centre. There's also a crazy 'pull for -10dB' knob protected by a little chrome swivel-plate. One proviso: it looks like it originally had little 5-amp round-pin mains plug (which were obsolete by the early 70s). There is a neat stowage point in the case for that plug, but the modern 13-amp plug now fitted to the lead of course doesn't fit. Care needs to be taken not to let that plug scrape anything in transit. Robust but very heavy: packing 6GBP.
OK, while writing this, curiosity got the better of me and I'm going to take it out of its case in the morning and photograph the insides. - Wow. Check the pics for the nice tube stuff inside the case. Interestingly, the case is really light - all the weight comes from the transformers etc inside. |
