 Make Simmons
Model SDS IV seriously classic drum synth
Description This is honestly one of the best-sounding drum synths ever made, and in getting it serviced we think we have found out why.... it doesn't have any oscillators! The main drum sounds are made by using (Moog-style) ladder filters in self-resonating mode. Dave Simmons genius! This is a Musicaid early machine, s/n 4050 (which probably means #50 in the very small run), and is in very good cosmetic condition with one exception: the channel 2 level slider is snapped, but totally usable. The volume sliders are a little crackly, but the machine sounds absolutely wonderful, with brilliant design and great choice of ranges - it's amazing how often the first design of a product (in this case Simmons drum synths) sounds the very best. (The SDS4 is a more affordable two-channel version of the original SDS3, with practically identical sound generation and control. The SDSV - itself a great machine - went to more conventional sound generation). Packing 4GBP to include a Euro or UK lead.
