C12A |
Description |
Vintage AKG C12A with power supply and cable. The transitional model between valve C12 and C414, perhaps most famously used on Brian May's AC30s, who was one of many celebrity enthusiasts. I bought this from Saturn Sound many years ago - it still sounds the same as it did then, and has never crackled once in all the time I've had it. Comes with (just about) functional box, and the power supply has had the mains socket replaced. Has been recently given a clean bill of health by Peter Drefahl (see pix).
A piece of microphone history, and they don't come up that often. **More info from the owner: 'it is a brass CK 12 capsule, and I have asked Peter Drefahl to confirm it- see below.
I will post a picture of the capsule when I manage to get my laptop working again.'
Peter Drefahl's reply:-
'Subject: Re: AKG C12A
for sure it was an original CK12, but there are several issues sharing this designation.
The most desirable in terms of pricing is the 'brass' version, ...
Which model it is, can easily be seen through the grille at appropriate lighting.
Technically spoken, the Teflon issue is much more reliable in all respects, but doesn't have the 'vintage bonus' ' ** |
