The Roland MKS-80 Super Jupiter is a 2 space rack mount sound module version of the Roland Jupiter-6 and the Roland Jupiter-8 synthesizers.
It is an 8-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer that was manufactured by Roland between 1984 and 1987.
Very fat and very analog. It is the only one of the MKS series of synthesizers to have fully analog voltage-controlled oscillators.
The voice architecture is almost identical to the Jupiter-6 synthesizer.
The unit is capable of producing most of the Jupiter-8's signature sounds, in addition to many sounds unique to the MKS-80.
In it's filters, modulation capabilities and a thick cluster of 16 analog oscillators at 2 per voice.
Tons of editing capabilities, although editing is tedious. With the MPG-80's traditional slider control more easier to editing the MKS-80. An excellent choice for ambient drones, pads, blips, buzzes and leads. It is used by Vince Clarke, Vangelis, Moby, Prodigy, ZZ Top, Blur, Pet Shop Boys etc
