Model NYZ PPLZ DTRM model MM2534 ringmod
Description Your chance to get a piece of Noyzelab's electronic music studio! This is the third pcb-panel Eurorack module I handbuilt from a batch of pcb’s I got manufactured in 2021. Experience a real ring modulator instead of the more common analogue multiplier designs or DSP simulations! One of a series of Eurorack prototypes built during 2021/22 for my NYZ - DTRM music series. Designed and hand built built by myself, Dave Burraston [experienced electronics builder/designer since 1976]. I designed this unit in 2017 using high quality transformers based on the classic circuit of Frank A. Cowan from 1934. Panel includes switch to reverse the carrier & program inputs [modern chip based analogue multiplier ring mod designs do not work this way!]. This is a very high bandwidth diode transformer ring modulator and can easily reach frequencies >20kHz. If you have a high sampling rate [>40kHz] pitch/frequency shifter you can downshift these signals back into the audio range. Unlike other fixed diode units, the diode ring is unique being freely programmable using most types of diodes and LEDs, even transistors/pn junctions. With LEDs you will get the added side effect of visual display of the signal as its being live processed! The patchable diode ring sockets are built using recycled Dual-In-Line chip sockets. Includes 4 LED’s for your experimentation. This module screams out for experimentation. Get yourself some magnets and modulate/alter the sound by moving it near the transformers..!! This is why they are on the front panel instead of tucked away inside :) Relive the classic experiments of Forbidden Planet/BBC Radiophonic Workshop et al and beyond with the real deal. Be quite literally the only kid on your block with this unique handbuilt module! NOTE: THIS UNIT IS PASSIVE AND DOES *NOT* REQUIRE POWER. SKIFF FRIENDLY 20mm depth. ***3 kOhm, not 600 Ohm*** transformers, copper point to point wiring.

update 26/10/24: this unit is designed for my personal studio as an experimental/drone module. There is some signal bleed with these types of simple passive circuits. Please do not bid if this something that you cannot live with! If I get time I will post a video of this module in action on youtube. Module is **not** DC-coupled but will work for both control signals & audio. Another feature with passive DTRM’s is that you can reverse the inputs & outputs for an extra configuration. ie use the out as input and take the output from the carrier or program socket!
