 Make Yamaha
 Model EX-1
Description The Yamaha EX-1 Electone PAS System is the home version of the famed GX-1 Synthesizer introduced in the late 1970's, and used by Keith Emerson, Stevie Wonder, etc. When sold new, this piece listed for about $40,000 USD. Uses PAS (Pulse Analogue Synthesis) System, along with standard organ tone generation. 2 main 61-note keyboards, a 37-note solo Synthesizer keyboard (with aftertouch and side-to-side key modulation capabilities), and full pedalboard, with coupling available between all keyboards and pedalboards. The solo keyboard can provide synth sounds similar to those used by Keith Emerson on 'Fanfare for the Common Man'. Built-in arpeggiator and (primitive) drum machine, effects, knee-lever control, great night-lighting system(!), auto-pitch bend, wah-wah pedal, reset Tones setting board, Sample & Hold with Synchro Auto-Rhythm and Auto Bass/Chord, headphone and Leslie speaker cabinet outputs, and much much more. Includes the 2 large Yamaha TF-III self-amplified speaker cabinets and connecting cables. These will definitely shake the house! A copy of the operation manual with full specifications, etc., can be found at my web site, http://www.markglinsky.com/pics/EX1_Electone.pdf. Very rare and unusual piece, excellent condition - total weight with speakers is about 1000 pounds. This Yamaha EX-1 Electone Organ is in excellent condition, and is fully functional. Includes the Yamaha EX-1 Electone Organ, Bench, Pedalboard, two (2) TF-III Amplified Speakers, and the original operation manual and brochure. The EX-1 is somewhat of a preset version of the GX-1 - probably analogous to the Polymoog Keyboard to the Polymoog Synthesizer. The solo synthesizer does sound a lot like the GX-1 though, without the ribboon controller. The sounds that Emo used for Fanfare and Peter Gunn are pretty easily duplicated. From 1977 - Very similar feature-wise to the E-70 and EX-2, the EX-1 featured a third solo keyboard which could be programmed with additional synthesizer voices. A pair of TX-III tone cabinets came standard with this instrument. PASS voicing took technology from the GX-1 and incorporated it into a consumer model instrument. The ramifications revolutionized the organ industry. Instruments voices began evolving towards emulating the true orchestral instruments rather than theater organ equivalents.
