 Make Roland
 Model MKS-80 with MPG-80 Programmer
Description Great, rich-sounding synth with the extremely useful (essential?) programmer, and of course 6-pin lead; plus the two original manuals. This is a late model, using 16x IR3R03 VCO chips, 4x CEM3360 dual VCAs and 8x IR3R05 VCF/VCAs - see revised photo with a picture of the top board added. PROM is MKS80 B3; OS is 5.0. Cosmetically it looks OK, but not spectacular. One of the MPG rack ears has a rusty repaired bend in it - still totally functional, but not smart, and maybe worth replacing or re-spraying. One switch-top on the MKS has been replaced with a black home-made top, which works fine but is clearly not original once you notice it. Rack ears 5/10, Programmer 8/10, MKS-80 6.5/10 - so probably about 7/10 overall. The replaced switch is because in transit a few years ago, badly packed, the front suffered a bang. The Synth Service Centre replaced the screen and re-glued the switches, but it looks like the glue wasn't long enough lasting. So all switches that needed it have now been checked and re-glued. The good point is that the screen is very recent and has had little use. One foot is missing from the MKS-80 as well, and one of the six case screws. Powerful synth, sounding beautiful and working wonderfully.
