Baker unique electrostatic 1986 a/s |
Description |
**FIRST BID £17! Time for someone to own it who can get it 100% and give it the respect it deserves.**
This amazing machine looks as though it was a one-off, after the main production of Compton electrostatic organs had finished years before. It is in semi-working condition but definitely needs a thorough service. Some keys produce motorboating rather than a proper tone, the rotary speaker was rotating but then stopped, and three or four keys on the bottom keyboard have been broken and re-glued - one of them very messily. Plus the electrostatic rotor motor needed a bit of help to get started. The amazing auto-glockenspiel, pedals and the drum machine worked. The good news is that unlike many one-offs, which are impossible to service, this has fantastically detailed service info - and also meticulous notes, notices and labels in the machine itself. It has some fantastic innovations and idiosyncracies, such as the pin-matrix drum machine programming and the LED display for pedal position. It comes with quite a few extra parts, including another rotor assembly - see pics - and has all its connecting cables. It is extremely heavy, but the main organ (the worst bit) can be manoeuvred with just a sack truck - we've seen it done. If we ship it it will need two pallets: 80GBP packing - plus at a guess 160-200GBP shipping in UK, 350- 450GBP in Europe. You would be very welcome to collect it from Devon, UK in a large-ish van with strong helpers - in which case we will keep the pallets and refund the packing charge. |
